The Goodness of God

May 4, 2026

God is good.

This is the truth about who He is and what He does.

God is good and never bad. He will always be good because He never changes and He will always do good because of who He is. This is an astounding reality for us —especially for those who are hurting, waiting, mourning, questioning, or praying.

The Bible says it this way:

“The LORD is good to all, and his mercy is over all that he has made.”  (Psalms 145:9, ESV)

God is good to all—actively pouring out His grace (favor, love, kindness, etc). And “mercy” here could be translated “tender mercies” pointing to God’s gentle, Fatherly care. Don’t miss the ways He shows you His grace and tender mercies today. Every breath, sunrise, word of Scripture, big and little blessing, answered prayer, reality of salvation, invitation to come to Him…it’s all evidence of His goodness.

So, let us not forget to be thankful–it’s the right response to God’s goodness:

“O give thanks to the Lord, for He is good.” Psalm 106:1

If your current season is difficult or dark and it’s hard to see the Lord’s goodness, I would invite you to meditate on Psalm 103. It’s a wonderful place to begin reorienting your heart toward His goodness.
